Monday 8.17.15

(40 minute class period) Today students were given a brief introduction to the course. Students recieved the course

textbook. An overview of the course and expectations were presented to the stuents as well as some study tools

and tips to be succesful in the course.

                -Read Chapter 9: The Black Death-Hundred Years War (pp 290-302)

 

Tuesday 8.18.15

 Today students look at and discussed the "What is History" reading by Edwin Fenton. The class went on to look

at the summer reading, Europe: A History. We discussed bias that is present in all Historical writing and why it existed. 

Finally the class took notes on the Black Death and Hundred Years' War.

Thursday 8.20.15

We took a European map quiz to start class today. Students then continued to examin their summer reading, Europe: A History. Students did mini-presentations on various topics covered in their essay for the class. Finally the class took notes on the break down of the Medieval Church and the Great Schism.

Monday 8.24.15

The topic for today was the Renaissance. We started class by watching Crash Course World History: The Renaissance. We then examined why the orinigins of the Renaissance took place in Italy. Finaly, we were introduced to several examples of Renaissance Art.

Wednesday 8.26.15

Today students split up into four groups and did mini-presentations on these four topics: 1)Italy's Political Decline: The French Invastions, 2)The Revival of Monarchy in Northern Europe, 3)the Northern Renissance, and 4)Voyages of Discovery and the New Emipires in the West and East. The groups presented their information to the class by creating a butchur paper poster display.
