Today students started to examin the Executive Branch. We looked at 8 vocab words in the text book and then watched the History Channel's video on the Presidents.

Wednesday 3.9.16 and Thursday 3.10.16

Today students started class by reviewing what we learned about the first seven Presidents of the United States of America that we were introduced to last class. The Class then took notes on the Executive Branch via a ppt. We finished class by meeting Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant through the History Channels video on The Presidents. Fridayday 3.11.16 and Monday 3.14.16

Today students started class by reviewing what we learned about the Executive Branch, Departments, and Agencies. We also brainstormed what would be needed most when starting a new country. We decided on leadership. Students then read Nation Builder and answered questions. We then transitioned to our President series by the History Channel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tuesday 3.15.16 and Wednesday 3.16.16

Today students started class by hypothesizing what the responsibilities of the President are. Students then prioritized what tough decisions would be made if they were President. We went on to read All In a Day's Work and answered questions. We then transitioned to our President series by the History Channel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monday 3.28.16 and Tuesday 3.29.16

Today we examined the many roles of the presidency. Students were divided into groups of four. After reading their assigned section of Chapter 14 from our text book, groups worked on graphic organizers to help them better comprehend the many roles of the presidency. When we finished we completed our examination of the History Channel's documentary on the Presidents. If time allowed, we watched CNN Student News for current events. The Graphic Organizers will be collected next class. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 3.30.15 and Thursday 3.31.15

Students took notes today on the Powers of the President. We then started a project on the different Departments of the Executive Cabinet. Projects will be presented on 4.5 and 4.6.

Today we finished our presentations and then looked at where students fell on the politicial spectrum. Students took two online quizes and then wronte a three paragraph refelction based on their findings.

Wednesday 4.13.16 and Thursday 4.14.16

Today we looked at the Foreign Policy that comes out of the White House. Students started by playing a game from iCivics (entitled: Executive Command [ goo.gl/wGi39E ]) We then took notes on the options of foreign policy allotted to the President and finished with a brief activity on the topic.  Unit 3 Test Next Class.
