Today students started to examin the Executive Branch. We looked 8 vocab words in the text book then watched the History Channel's video on the Presidents.

Wednesday 10.21.15 and Thursday 10.22.15
Today students started class by reviewing who the first seven Presidents of the US that we were, that we were introduced to last class. We then transitioned to looking at current events by watching CNN Student News. The Class then took notes on the Executive Branch via a ppt. We finished class by meeting Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant through the History Channels video on The Presidents. See the link from last class to access the videos online.

Tuesday 10.27.15 and Wednesday 10.28.15
Today we read Chapter 14 from our text book and filled out several graphic organizers to help us understand the roles of the President. When we finished we finished out examination of the History Channel's documentary on the Presidents. Lastely we watched CNN Student News for current events. The Graphic Organizers will be collected next class.
Thursday 10.29.15 and Friday 10.30.15
Students took notes today on the Powers of the President. We then started a project on the different Departments of the Executive Cabinet. Projects will be presented on 11.4 and 11.5.
Monday 11.2.15 and Tuesday 11.3.15
Today students took an open note quiz over the Presidents we covered with our History Channel Documentaries. We then continued to work on the Departments of the Executive Cabinet Projects. Projects will be presented on 11.4 and 11.5.

Today we finished our presentations and then looked at where students fell on the politicial spectrum. Students took two online quizes and then wronte a three paragraph refelction based on their findings.

Today studetns will be taking notes on the purpose of political parties and will then create a brochure about a political party seleted at ronadom. The groups will
present their findings next class (11.12 and 11.13 respectively).
Thursday 11.12.15 and Friday 11.13.15
Today students presented on their political party brochures. We then looked at how the parties get politicians elected. We then examined the Iowa Caucus and did a simulation with candy bars. Students were then introduced to the New Hampshire Primary and how it's a good bench mark for a political campaign. Finally we
discussed the electoral college and the significance of each vote in an election. Studetns did a worksheet on the role of the President, all in a days work, for homework.
Monday 11.16.15 and Thursday 11.19.15
Today we reviewed the roles of the president, finished any left over brochure presentations and worked on the Unit 3 Study Guide. Finally, we wached CNN Student News and discussed the Terror Attacks in France that took place last Friday.
Friday 11.20.15 and Monday 11.23.15
Today we played trashketball then took our Unit 3 Test. Students then did an exploratory activity with chapter 18 covering the Judicail Branch.
