Wednesday 9.23.15

Today we started to look at summarization. Students watched CNN student news, a current even show catered to high schoolers, and summariezed the 6 stories presented. We then looked at a text book and worked in groups to find the main points and supporting facts to back them up. Students were assigned to summarize The Club of Great Powers: including all three topics. 1. Relations and Exchanges 2. Conquest and Client States and 3. Commonalities Among the Great Power Cultures. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Friday 9.25.15

Today we contiued developing the skill of sumariazation. Students examined the colapse of the International Bronze Age and answered the questions below. We also watched the Crash Course World History on the End of Civilization (Bronze Age). 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tuesday 9.29.15

Today we contiued developing the skill of sumariazation. The class was divided into four groups. These groups were given a topic and large piece of butcher paper and presented with the tasked of crating a poster to aid them in their teaching of their topic to the class. The groups were: 1) Before and Between the Empires, 2) The Empire Strikes Back: Neo-Assyrian and Neo-Babylonian Dominance, 3) The Early History of the Hebrews & Israel: From Monarchy to Exile, & 4) The Hebrew Religious Legacy. After the groups presented their material the class was instructed to answer the questions below which will be collected next class.

Today we learned about the Assyrians and the Persians via a lectrue with accomping powing point. Students were then instructed to create a timline of the major events of Persian Society. They were given a supplemental reading to aid them with this activity. 

 

 

 

 

 

Friday 10.9.15

Tuesday 10.13.15

Today lthe class looked at Greek Mythology. We started off by taking some notes and then we watched a video. We then created "Guess How " game pieces that will be used and collected next class. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tuesday 10.20.15

Today's class started with the students playing their guess who game they completed for homework. We then transitions to look at the Persian and Peoloponnesian Wars. Students then compred the lives of people in the city states of Athens and Sparta by looking at the text. Athens v. Thursday 10.22.15

We stared today's class be comparing Athens and Sparta and the ways in which women were treated with each city-state. Then we reviewed our knowledge of the Greeks and Persians through Crash Course World History. Finially, students had the option of working individually or in pairs to complete a web-quest on the Greeks. Monday 10.26.15

Today we looked at Alexander the Great. We watched a Documentary by Discovery Education (see the attached document for longin/password).

Wednesday 10.28.15

Today we continued to examin Alexander the Great. We looked at how other cultures viewed our Wesern hero of ancient Macedonia and how perspectives of history change not only over time but by location through a good secondary source reading. We then started working on maps of Alexander's empire. The Map and questions are due on Friday 10.30.
