Friday 8.14.15

During today's 8 minute class students were welcomed to high school and shared experinces from their summers. 

 
Monday 8.17.15

Today students were given the course syllabus looked at good study habits and skills. 

 

 

 

Wednesday 8.19.15

Today's class stared with playing several ice breakers to get to know each other. We then attempted to tackle the question "What is History?" The class discussed that our recollation of what had taken place previousely in the block would vary based on an indiviidual's, memory, bias, and interests. The class transitioned to take notes on primary and secondary sources. We discussed the uses of each type of source material. The class concluded by attempted to state the 10 most important events in history. The classes timeline was pretty specific but included far more than 10 events.

 

 

 

Friday 8.21.15

This morning we looked at Pre-History and the evolution of hominds. The class took notes on the origins of mankind and the Neolithic Revoution which included some terminology and careers in the Social Studies field. We then watched the PBS documentary entitled  "First Peoples" who oringniated in Africa and how inter species mating and the biological variations made us who we are today as Homo Sapiens.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tuesday 8.25.15

Today students were confronted with these questions: How would you describe a civilization? What charateristics would a civilization have? To help us answer these questions we watched Crash Course World History: The Indus Valley Civilization #2. After a brief class discussion the students were told they'd be working on a small project with a partern of their choosing. Groups have selected their early civilizations to further research and will present on their finding next class.
